Second Leadership Article

This artical was written by Bill Lloyd and was talking about what it takes to be a good leader. It started with a story about how he worked in a restaurant as a general manager, he had to make a descision about whether or not to promote another employee as a general manager. He didn't really know what, but something bugged him about the employee. He realized that when this person had a task that maybe wasn't the most pleasant thing to do, he would send it on to someone else to do, when all of the other general managers would do the task themselves. He talks about how a good leader needs to step up and do things that maybe necessarily wouldn't be fun for them, and how they need to step up and do things so that others will follow them.

I think that this article talks a lot about responsibility and integrity because it says how you need to do things that are your responsibility even if they aren't something fun to do. The author talked about the key to leadership is being able to do anything that you would need to ask someone else to do. I think he is trying to reach high school aged people because he talks a lot about that is where your leadership starts and really grows. This is going to affect a lot of people. Anyone who reads it will obviously be affected and if the person who reads it becomes a really positive leader, and then people will catch on and it will kind of be like a domino effect. It will affect me because now everytime I'm in a situation where I can ask someone to do something, or just do it myself, I will think about this and do it myself. This is an important article about leadership because it kind of gives you a basic to leadership. If you can do this, than people will look up to you and think you're a good leader.

My opinion on this article is that he is right. I think that that is a very important artical. An example of this could be that you and you're friend are closing at your work and only one person is needed, you could tell your friend that you're going to go home, but then how would your friend feel? I agree with what he says about how if you shouldn't ask someone to do something if you wouldn't do it.

  2. I think that an important quality of a leader is intuition or "gut feeling". That is what he seemed to have when talking about the guy who gave away all the bad tasks.
